BIG H SAVES THE DAY

Big H planning next week’s healthy menu. “It’s like Masterchef!”

After coming home from a fun evening out with my friends, I realized that having three nights out in a row (what a treat) wasn’t the best for me.  I’m usually the planner so I may have overdone it, but I couldn’t miss Monday’s Bachelorette night (that trash is better in a group setting), Tuesday’s evening out with my closest girlfriends, and Wednesday’s All-You-Can-Eat experience with some new mommy friends. I was home by 10:30 p.m. each night, but I think I exhausted myself during the day and staying up late doesn’t help either (damn you, NBA finals).  Anyone who knows me knows that I’m very “go go go” so my exhaustion finally caught up with me this week.  My throat was sore and the sniffles set in.  I couldn’t even make it to the grocery store on Thursday morning which is my weekly routine.  I’m usually pretty good with colds, but this one was just a bad stuffy headache, stuffy nose, and stuffy everything. (Yes, stuffy is the word of the day.)

On Thursday evening, my eldest wanted to help me (code for, “Mommy, can I sleep in your room?”) and I was happy to let her.  She helped me come up with the menu for the next week.  She came up with shrimp linguine, meatloaf, and homemade chicken fingers.  She listed all the fruits and veggies for the week and anything put 2x for anything we need more of.  I guess she’s seen me to it enough time, but still not bad for a second grader.  I was grateful for the help.  She was having fun and it gave her a sense of responsibility.  It’s awesome that she can use her reading and writing skills when I’m not 100%. To be honest, she’s more teen than child.  She said, “I hope you get better soon, Mommy, we need you.”  LOL.  Tell that to the germs, girl.

Do you have a very mature child?
